TENNIS ANYONE - Calling all Returning and New River Rat Tennis Players (NEW 6/20/2022)
Tryouts will start Tuesday, August 9th. Here are details for all interested and returning players.
- JV has a quad on Monday, August 15, so I am planning to have the line up figured out by Friday, August 12.
- Tryouts format will be different this year. As JV only plays doubles and the key openings in the varsity lineup are likely to be doubles positions, I will be running the tryouts in a doubles format. Players will be grouped in various round-robin groups of 4 over the dates of tryouts and based on performance/games won will be assigned to their prospective teams. Players will play timed sets with each player in their group to give an idea of where each player fits within the group.
- Tryouts will run in 2 groups similar to last year. The Tryout Schedule is Below:
Freshman/Returning JV Players planning to try out for varsity:
Tuesday, August 9: 2:45-5:30 PM
Wednesday, August 10: 2:45-5:30 PM
Thursday, August 11: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
Friday, August 12: 2:00-4:45 PM
Returning Varsity Players/Alternates:
Tuesday, August 9: 5:15-7:30 PM (stretching first 15 min of each day)
Wednesday, August 10: 5:15-7:30 PM
Thursday, August 11: 12:45-3:00 PM
Friday, August 12: 4:30-6:30 PM (will go later if need to finish more matches)
If anyone has specific questions, reach out to Coach Telfer.
Women and Men's Cross Country (NEW 6/11/2022)
CALLING ALL INTERESTED HURON HIGH SCHOOLERS
Summer training for XC will begin this coming Monday, June 13th which is really useful to get into shape for the 2022 XC season. We meet at the Gallup Park Canoe Livery at 8:00 AM six days a week, with Sunday being a rest day. We will be starting with short distances and will not expect any of our runners to start out fast. All you will need to bring is a water bottle and some shoes and we really hope to see some new faces this summer. You don’t need to worry about any fees or forms until the official start of the season in August. If you have additional questions, reach out to one of the XC Captain.
Huron Rowing Open House (NEW - 6/10/2022)
CALLING ALL INTERESTED HURON HIGH SCHOOLERS :
Tomorrow there is an open house from 10-12 noon at Bandemer Park to introduce interested new athletes to Huron Rowing.
It’s a drop-in format, so no registration is required. Teens will learn to erg, get a boathouse tour, and get into an eight person boat and row (with experienced rowers). Parents will have a chance to watch and ask questions of their own. See the Open House Flyer for more information.
